1980s Tudor Oyster Prince Date+Day
A Prince Date+Day with a beautiful white dial, a white gold fluted bezel, and the ETA 2834-2 automatic movement.
Overview
Conceived in an era where Tudor served as the accessible proving ground for Rolex’s most iconic silhouettes, the reference 94614 is the steel Day-Date that bridged the gap between functional complexity and high-society style. While Rolex strictly reserved its flagship dress watch for precious metals, Tudor utilized a 36mm steel Oyster case — complete with a white gold fluted bezel — to offer a more resilient alternative to its venerable older brother. Introduced in the late 1970s and produced through the 80s, the 94614 is distinguished by its use of the ETA 2834-2 movement, allowing for the same prestigious "top-arc" day display found on the Day-Date.
This particular version of the 94614 features a crisp white dial with printed black Roman numerals, a notable departure from the more commonly applied metal indices. The layout is immediately evocative of the legendary "Buckley" dials found on vintage Datejusts from the same era. While the 94614 was produced for about a decade, this specific Roman numeral variant was most prevalent during the mid 1980s. Like the Rolex version, the painted numerals provide a flat, graphic quality that enhances legibility and offers more "old-school" charm than a standard silver dial. Finding a 94614 in this specific style from its short 1980s run is a rare treat, as it perfectly captures one of the most beloved designs in Rolex history.

Condition
Case: The stainless steel case shows normal wear for a watch this age, with a few hairlines, small scuffs, and tiny nicks present throughout. The lugs are thick and sharp with the brushed finishing still intact. The caseback is consistent with the rest of the case. The backs of the lugs show light signs of prior bracelet removal. The Rolex engravings remain sharp and legible.
Dial, Hands, & Crystal: The while dial and polished hands are in excellent condition with some micro signs of patina under a loupe but no notable imperfections or cracking. The tritium across both hands and dial is a minty yellow hue that glows briefly when exposed to UV light. The acrylic crystal is believed to be a generic replacement and shows some light surface wear but remains clean overall.
Bracelet/Strap: The Tudor stainless steel bracelet exhibits normal stretch for a watch this age — moderate but not severe. There are hairlines, faint scuffs, and tiny scratches throughout. The clasp opens and closes securely. The Tudor logo remains crisp and detailed.
Performance
