2017 A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia 'Blue Series'
A Saxonia with a dynamic blue dial, a thin white gold case, and the A. Lange & Söhne L941.1 hand-wound movement.
Overview
The A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia has become one of the brand’s most accessible and diverse lines since it was released during the brand’s re-birth in 1994. Named after the state in which the manufacturer resides, the Saxonia is known for its reserved styling and simple execution that retains the same level of craftsmanship as the company’s flagship offerings. Over the years these watches have been offered in a variety of sizes and designs ranging from 34mm hand-wounds to 40.5mm automatics with outsized date complications.
In 2017, A. Lange & Söhne introduced a limited production run of its Lange 1 and Saxonia models with blue dials and white gold cases. These watches were collectively referred to as the “Blue Series” and orders were filled by boutiques and retailers up until 2019. The hand-wound Saxonia here is one of the initial examples produced at the end of 2017. The dial is both rich and dynamic, dancing between steel blue and deep navy depending on the viewing angle. With the 35mm Saxonia now discontinued, this rare configuration has become all the more special and would make for the perfect minimalist dress watch in any collection.

The lugs remain thick and well-defined with small signs of wear at the inner edges. The case sides have a few light nicks and scratches. The caseback is in fantastic condition with very little wear present. The backs of the lugs show signs of prior strap removal. All engravings remain crisp and legible.
Dial, Hands, & Crystal: The blue dial is in pristine condition with no notable imperfections. The polished hands are fantastic with a few micro spots of oxidation visible upon close inspection. Both front and rear sapphire crystals are squeaky clean and scratch-free.
Bracelet/Strap: The A. Lange & Söhne alligator strap is in unworn condition with the tag still attached. The ACM saffiano strap is very lightly used with some creasing at the buckle holes. The condition of the A. Lange & Söhne white gold buckle is consistent the rest of the case, showing hairlines, light scratches, and small scuffs. The signature and hallmarks are sharp and detailed.
