2023 Credor Kuon
A Kuon with a stunning white porcelain dial, an integrated bracelet, and the Credor 7R31 Spring Drive movement.
Overview
Named after the French phrase Crêt d'Or, meaning "peak of gold," Credor was established in 1974 to serve as the ultimate showcase for high-end Japanese horology. Operating under the Seiko umbrella, the brand executes hand-finished creations with a focus on precious metals and low-volume production that is more akin to independent watchmaking than commercial manufacturing. Celebrated for pushing artistic boundaries, Credor’s catalog spans ultra-thin mechanical movements, Spring Drive calibers, and decorative techniques ranging from painted porcelain to intricate skeletonization.
Introduced in late 2023, the Kuon collection marked a quiet milestone that brought Credor’s elevated craft to a daily-wearable format. Named after the Japanese word for eternity, the line was designed around the concept of a flowing river of time. While only two watches were launched initially, the series now includes four examples, each presenting subtle variations in dial material, case material, and hour marker design paired with a polished stainless steel case and a fluid seven-row integrated bracelet.
The reference GCLX999 offered here stands out as a focal point of the line, earning the nickname "Baby Eichi" among collectors. Featuring a white porcelain dial with blue printed indices and a smooth sweeping seconds hand, the watch echoes the aesthetic philosophy of Credor’s legendary flagship model, the Eichi II. On the reverse side, an exhibition caseback showcases the Spring Drive caliber 7R31, engraved with an exclusive “seragi” wave pattern and a triple-arc indicator for the movement’s 72-hour power reserve. At 39mm in diameter and under 11mm thick, the GCLX999 bridges the gap between form and function like few other dress watches can.
